Good management knows no bounds–especially in L.A. This town is packed with revolutionary and engaging leaders spanning distinctive marketplaces and industries, like experienced football.

As the town and its football supporters celebrate the L.A. Rams’ place in Tremendous Bowl LVI, I was reminded of an episode I recorded for the Place of work Several hours podcast back in 2017. In it, I sat down with Rams COO Kevin Demoff, who at the time was juggling sizeable disruptions the two on and off the industry.

Kevin’s complete plate integrated a franchise nevertheless settling back again into the West Coastline immediately after 20 yrs in St. Louis, as properly as the development and development of SoFi Stadium, the Rams’ condition-of-the-artwork new residence. Then, there was the firing of Jeff Fischer, a revered and professional NFL coach, and the controversial employing of his alternative: 30-yr-aged Sean McVay, the youngest head coach in NFL heritage.

The past five several years are proof of Kevin’s final decision-building capabilities. McVay has led the Rams to their 2nd Super Bowl considering the fact that returning to L.A. in 2015, with the added reward this year of perhaps successful the Lombardi Trophy in their now-concluded house stadium. Yes, the Rams are a fantastic soccer organization—but it’s the enterprise corporation, helmed by leaders like Kevin, which supports and allows that.

And from a company point of view, so a great deal of what Kevin and I reviewed again in 2017 continue to rings legitimate. In organization and in football, interaction is crucial. Leaders need to talk obviously to infuse confidence in their staff, and also listen to others—including followers and customers—to assess, adapt and pivot when a little something is not functioning. When the tough final decision to replace Jeff Fischer was created, it was accomplished so because which is what the staff necessary to thrive.

Thankfully the Rams—from the players, to the admin staff, to the fans—still have Kevin Demoff on board. With his very clear interaction and potential to listen when it will come to making choices, I’m confident this will not be the last time we make it to the Tremendous Bowl.
